Newsletter 4/17/17: Get Back To Where You Once Belonged

Greetings WIXY Family,

We hope your Spring is going well and the Easter Bunny didn't hop by your house.  We hope your Easter or Passover holiday was great and you got to enjoy your weekend.

Get Back To Where You Once Belonged

The Beatles once sang, "Get Back...Get Back To Where You Once Belonged."  We're proud to say WIXY'S BACK, and we're having fun proving, "In Cleveland, We're Number One!" (as an original station jingle proclaims).  We're working hard each and every day to make this the FUN station that not only plays the music you love, but provides you with great entertainment and memories along the way.

With this, we are excited to announce some exciting milestones.   Although we don't typically make our statistics public, we have worked hard and long (as the longest running internet station in the area) and hope to share with our volunteers and listeners what we've been able to achieve - which has been tremendous and gratifying!
  • We've reached almost 11,000 followers on our Official Facebook Page ("WIXY1260Online") (a 49% increase since last year at this time),
  • Had 110,904 listeners tune in in the 1st Quarter of 2017 (a 52% increase over last year!), and
  • Had over 46,000 visitors to our website in the 1st Quarter of 2017.

Cost Effective Advertising and Appearance Rates

We don't believe in pretty, misleading graphics and numbers.  Our "no smoke & mirrors" approach makes no false promises to our advertisers and event planners of what they can expect from their dollars.  We deliver excellent services for below market rates because we believe in our community and are committed to bringing back radio the way it was meant to be.... fun, fair and non-pretentious.  We are not motivated by profit, we are motivated by making new friends and sharing great experiences.
  • We will entertain most any kind of event, with professional DJs who are established in the business and area.
  • We offer great website advertising packages to fit all budgets.
  • We offer custom over-air advertising solutions to fit any strategy and budget.
Complete an Advertising/Event Request form on our Contact Page today, or call our Sales Manager, Eric Rath at 440-552-0800, our GM, Gary Schmitz at 216-926-3429 or our Studio at 216-744-9499.

For Immediate Release: Local Deejay and Teacher at Ohio Media School needs a new kidney

By Mark E Pauley Sr.

SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio – David Sprouse, a forty-six-year-old man from Northeast Ohio, needs a kidney transplant because of complications from an injury while working at the FORD Motor Company over 10 years ago.  According to David, he developed an infection from a strain of bacteria called MRSA. David reluctantly started a “gofunme” campaign, https://www.gofundme.com/a-kidney-transplant-for-christmas, to help with the costs of the transplant, recovery time, rehab expenses, lost wages, etc.

According to the Mayo Clinic, MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus and is an infection caused by a strain of bacteria that is resistant to the antibiotics commonly used to treat ordinary staph infections. MRSA infections typically occur in patients who have been in a hospital or other health care settings. MRSA infections start as small, red bumps that can quickly progress into deep, painful abscesses that require surgical draining, notes Mayo Clinic. In some cases, a MRSA infection remains on the skin; however, it can spread into the body. Once a MRSA infection has spread, it can cause infections in the bones, joints, surgical wounds, the bloodstream, heart valves and lungs.

David has also lost his mother to MRSA, she passed away in 2013. David believes she contracted the bacteria while caring for him.  David has had skin sores and eye problems, he lost a foot and has had many issues with joints.  In the middle of all this, he was diagnosed with a chondrosarcoma (cancerous tumor) on his brain stem. His kidneys were affected by all the medications, and are now shutting down. According to David, “Just one good kidney would keep me alive!”.
Seven people have volunteered to be tested as potential donors. David is hoping to have the surgery and begin the recovery within a month or two.

David is a beloved teacher at the Ohio Media School, beonair.com, in VALLEY VIEW, Ohio, he’s a writer and photographer for the Northeast Ohio Sports Insiders or neosportsinsiders.com and allsportscleveland.com.  David is also an on-air talent at WIXY1260Online.com.
