Most of you have figured out by now what our "Very Big News" is... we are having our "LAST BROADCAST".... from our current studios in Lakewood, Ohio.  Our news has caused quite a stir, but we couldn't be more excited as the station continues to expand and we've outgrown our current headquarters.  Over the next few weeks we'll continue to keep you posted on our progress.  Our new studios are going to be quite awesome and we're really stoked!  None of this would be possible without your overwhelming support, and of course, the support of our awesome crew.  So, keep listening online, following us on Facebook (#whereswixy) or Twitter or watching our Happenings Page at www.wixy1260online.com/happenings.html as we roll out more updates in the new year and begin broadcasting from our new home.

Newsletter 11/29/17: OUR BIGGEST NEWS IN 6 YEARS!

Hello Friends of WIXY1260Online, 

As we recover from our Thanksgiving holidays, and our new waist sizes, we now prepare for the holiday season ahead.  At WIXY1260Online we want to give you a good variety of holiday music (557 songs to be exact), but we don't plan to overwhelm you with it either.   If you have a favorite song, holiday or not, you want to hear just send us a request during our live shows by calling the studio at 216-744-9499 or visit our Contact page at www.wixy1260online.com/contact.html to fill out our Song Requests form. 

***We have some VERY BIG NEWS coming with regard to the future of the station.  I'm going to leave it at that for now, but suffice it to say it will be the biggest news we've shared with you since we first started broadcasting over six years ago.***

WIXZRadio.com "The Z" Returns to the Air
WIXZRadio.com / WIXZ1360Online ("The Z") has been back on the air for almost 2 months now.  Due to music licensing fees internet radio stations pay (because of a tilted music royalty fee structure in favor of the big boys and record labels) we've been forced to move The Z to Live365.com.  Live 365 allows us to stay on the air for a reduced fee in exchange for adding 4 minutes of commercials per hour to the air.  Despite this change, we hope to continue to push forward with The Z and continue to add new music all the time.  The Z plays the best variety of hits from the 80's, 90's and some eXtra (up to the 2010's) 24/7/365 with no listening fees and we'll continue our commitment to keep the interruptions as minimal as possible.   Tell anyone you know to tune in and check it out, and check it out for yourselves at www.wixzradio.com today!

 We'll be airing live shows from time to time on The Z with a planned 80's show by Ray Twardy on Friday, Dec. 22nd from 8 PM to Midnight.

We've had some changes to our Live Show lineup with the addition of new DJs (Jeff Strich - Weekdays 8-11 AM) and Dave Glick (Mon. & Tues. 11-3 PM), as well as several other DJs switching their show times for personal needs.  Our most up to date show times are on our Happenings Page and we continue to have LIVE DJs on the air seven days a week.

New Superman Arrives! Jeff Strich (11/10/17)

WIXY1260Online is proud to announce yet another addition to our team! Jeff Strich will be waking you up weekdays for the "Morning Strich" from 8-11 AM!

Ohio native Jeff Strich has been in broadcasting for over 20 years having worked at rock, classic rock and alternative stations in Cleveland and a jazz station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jeff graduated from the Ohio Media School with honors and also has play by play and color commentary experience in sports broadcasting for football, basketball and baseball. When he’s not chasing down a microphone, he is busy pursuing his number one radio goal of meeting Marc Flanagan in person.

Fan favorite, Lisa Jordan, is returning to WIXY1260Online TODAY (November 4th) from 8 PM to Midnight for a special LIVE show along side our first live DJ, Ray King!  Be sure to tune in tonight for a great show - we're excited to have Lisa back home where she belongs!  Also, Tim Kulik ("Shaggy") will kick off his "Shaggurday Night" show early from 4-8 PM (today only).

New Superman Arrives! Dave Glick (10/10/17)

WIXY1260Online is proud to announce their newest DJ, Dave Glick!

A graduate of Kent State University, Dave has worked as a broadcaster/art director on radio and television in New York and Youngstown, Ohio and as a writer/director and story artist in television animation at Disney, Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, Marvel and Sony. He has also worked as a comic book artist/writer, author, spy/ instructor at the Acme School of Good Spy Teaching and Big Rig Driving. Other information has been withheld by government law enforcement organizations while Mr. Glick is still an active agent. When not on the air at WIXY1260Online he is making the world safe for rock and roll and 18 wheelers everywhere.

WIXY1260Online Welcomes Tim "Shaggy" Kulik

Please join us in welcoming our newest Superman, Tim Kulik (affectionately nicknamed, "Shaggy")!

Cleveland born Tim Kulik moved to Tennessee at a young age and graduated from Perry County High School. Afterwards, he became a licensed piercer and in 2004 he moved back to Ohio putting his talents to work at a local tattoo shop. If you meet Tim, you’ll see himself as an artful expression of his capabilities.

In 2010, Tim toured the country doing 28 shows and 2000+ miles with one of his favorite bands and soon after began working for Hungry Hustler Records, and toured with a Grammy nominated rap artist.

Not one to shy away from new opportunities, Tim worked in the print industry and became a journeyman press operator with the Teamsters.  Ultimately, his love of music won out and he put some credentials to his music industry past by attending the Ohio Media School.  Tim’s diverse experience and willingness to do whatever he can to be successful is why we’ve found him to be such a great fit at WIXY1260Online.

We're celebrating the Summer of Love, WIXY Style!  Kid Cleveland will be kicking off the event with a special tribute show to celebrate 50 years since the release of The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album on Thursday, June 1st (11 am-3 pm) - tune into Keith's show for your chance to win a copy of the CD Re-Release of the album!
All summer long (June 1 through Labor Day weekend), at our live events and on our website, we're asking you to pick your favorite song from the Summer of Love (1967). Visit our Summer of Love section at the bottom of our Happenings Page for the list (coming soon) and prize details... we've got OUR BIGGEST PRIZE EVER planned for this event!   Capping off the event, Tony Z and Ray King will be hosting a special show (date forthcoming) which recounts the top 67 songs of 1967 - with the top songs chosen by your votes!  Prize winners will be chosen from there and will have to be tuned into this special show to win.

We hope your Spring is going well and the Easter Bunny didn't hop by your house.  We hope your Easter or Passover holiday was great and you got to enjoy your weekend.

The Beatles once sang, "Get Back...Get Back To Where You Once Belonged."  We're proud to say WIXY'S BACK, and we're having fun proving, "In Cleveland, We're Number One!" (as an original station jingle proclaims).  We're working hard each and every day to make this the FUN station that not only plays the music you love, but provides you with great entertainment and memories along the way.
 
With this, we are excited to announce some exciting milestones.   Although we don't typically make our statistics public, we have worked hard and long (as the longest running internet station in the area) and hope to share with our volunteers and listeners what we've been able to achieve - which has been tremendous and gratifying!
  • We've reached almost 11,000 followers on our Official Facebook Page ("WIXY1260Online") (a 49% increase since last year at this time),
  • Had 110,904 listeners tune in in the 1st Quarter of 2017 (a 52% increase over last year!), and
  • Had over 46,000 visitors to our website in the 1st Quarter of 2017.
