Newsletter 10/20/2022: Scaring Up Some Fun!

Hello WIXY Fans!

We've been catching our breath here at the station after a busy Summer filled with many fun events.  Now that we've settled in and hunkered down for the weather that's coming here in Northeast Ohio, we've got time to tell you about some special goings-on for Halloween!

1. WIXY’s Halloween Trick or Treat (Contest) - Listen every weekday (10 AM-2 PM) to our 'Out to Lunch Bunch' for instructions on how to enter to win fun and tasty, Halloween Themed goodies!
2. Ray King Show, Special Ghoulardi Halloween Edition - Join Ray King on Thursday, October 27th (7-11 PM) for a special Ghoulardi themed Halloween Show, sure to be filled with thrills & chills!

TWO SPECIAL RAY'S OF SUNSHINE

This week we celebrated our beloved Ray King's 75th birthday with a special show and much fanfare.  Ray has been with the station since the start and has been an important part of us being able to bring you those classic WIXY sounds, the wide variety of music, and of course, his awesome Thursday night (7-11 PM) shows.  Be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday if you haven't already.

On another positive note, our very own Ray Carr has been nominated for this year's Cleveland Music Awards! Show Ray your support and vote for him under the 'Radio Host' category.

Newsletter 4/20/2022: Happy Spring (?)

Happy Spring (?) Dear WIXY Family,

     As we prepare for the Spring season ahead and look forward to being outdoors more often, when Mother Nature doesn't throw us a curve-ball snow storm that is, we want to reach out to update you on the state of the station and our progress migrating to new streaming and licensing services.

      As many of you may recall from earlier e-mails, social media posts, and the ongoing updates to our website, we have made the transition to officially operating as a non-profit webcaster, thanks to the help of our friends at Euclid Beach Park Now.  What does this mean?  It means we are able to continue to provide you with a FREE listening option that is dedicated to preserving the memory of the historic WIXY 1260 AM.  It also means lowered operating costs for the station to allow us to be viable well into the future by avoiding outlandish music royalty licensing fees that commercial webcasters must pay.  Yes, we are still legal, just at the non-commerical rates we now enjoy.  It also means we are able to pull back on most of the commercials you've been hearing over the past few months - allowing us to re-commit to at least ~50 minutes of music every hour!   WIXY1260Online has WAY MORE MUSIC than ANY other free platform.

     Now that we're officially transitioned to our newer, more reliable streaming provider, you can safely bookmark the listening links on our Listen Page at WIXY1260Online.com without worry of further interruption (or at least that's the plan!).  More exciting, our free mobile apps are now undergoing updates and will be operational VERY soon.   Also, our Alexa skill and other listening options seen on our Listen Page will become live again in the coming days and weeks.

Newsletter 2/28/2022: WIXY In The Wild

Greetings WIXY-ites,

As many of you may already know, 2022 Started with some unexpected challenges for us with regard to music licensing and changes we've been forced to make as a result.  Fortunately, despite these setbacks, we've yet again risen to the task and are making 2022 a year to remember (for better reasons, and not the licensing stuff that has us scrambling to update our listeners with new listening links.)

WIXY IN THE WILD

Yes, WIXY1260Online is going WILD!  Anyone who has visited the Happenings Section of our website can see, we have a jam-packed 2022 in store for remote events.  And thanks to our wonderful staff, we are venturing out all over Northeast Ohio with our tents and trailer to entertain you and show you how you too can listen to WIXY IN THE WILD (i.e., in campgrounds, parks, or even your own back yard).  

We are setting up camp this April 1-3 at the I-X Piston Powered Auto Rama and excited to revive this great tradition of connecting with our piston-loving friends for hot rods, hot WIXY gear, and cool WIXY tunes!  Don't miss it!

Greetings WIXY Loyal Listeners,

Happy New Year, WIXY Friends!  We hope your holidays went well and you're safe and healthy as we forge ahead into a new year filled with hope, challenges and life's unpredictable path.  As many of you may have already known, we got thrown a curve ball at the end of 2021 and had to switch to a new commercial licensing provider with higher broadcasting rates than our prior, now defunct, provider.  Nonetheless, we have made some hard adjustments and continue to navigate these waters with a goal of keeping the music going.

KEEPING THE NEEDLE ON THE RECORD

Avoid missing out on the music you love... please visit our website regularly for all the latest updates on how to keep on listening.  Our listening links and helpful listening instructions will keep your 'needle on the record'.  And, as usual, we will continue to post to Facebook, Twitter, and our news and support blogs as well (which can be subscribed to).  The WIXY1260Online website is updated regularly and is your one-stop to all things WIXY1260Online - bookmark us today!

Of course, we did have to implement some changes as a result of the increased commercial rates.  You'll notice more commercials which we are required to play by our licensing provider to avoid even higher fees. And, because of these changes, you may be wondering why your mobile apps or old ways of listening no longer work.  We assure you our proprietary WIXY1260Online mobile apps will be back in the future, so don't delete them just yet.  Also, services like TuneIn and your Home Assistants, like Alexa/Amazon Echo, will return to normal eventually.  In the meantime, we have posted updated instructions on our Listen Page to tune in using a new Alexa Skill and Live365 Mobile app to tune in.  (Mobile users can still listen using their phone's web browser and clicking the Play button at the bottom of our webpage.)

NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF

Try as they might, they can't keep us down!  WIXY1260Online is committed to bringing you the radio you deserve at no cost - We are dedicated to the fans and keeping the WIXY spirit alive, not a bottom line.  And, as in the past, we LOVE getting out on the town and spreading the WIXY gospel all over Northeast Ohio.  The WIXY Faithful can attend our upcoming events and get your groove on.   Just visit the Happenings Section of our website, and social media, to see what fun events we've got in store.
