Release Regarding Voluntary Team Members

WIXY1260Online has made many efforts over its first two plus
years in existence to both increase listenership and brand awareness. Growing from a small hobby out of the owner’s
home to an internet hit with an average listenership of 6000+ hours per month (and
steadily increasing) and a geographical footprint that spans the globe. Although our owner, Gary Schmitz, is not a
radio veteran by trade, he has a strong operational and technical knowledge
base founded in his 40 plus years of experience as the President of BGE
Technologies.
To supplement his strong technological background and his love of WIXY 1260, our owner has enlisted the help of many volunteers who all bring the specific talents needed in order to successfully operate a next generation radio station that properly honors its roots. Our volunteers, all experts in their respective fields, range in age from 17 to 65 and we do not thank them nearly enough.
We rely heavily on our team members and your listener feedback in guiding the station to future success while balancing the following ideals: the desire to stay as true to the WIXY 1260 AM format as possible; the desire to take advantage of and be considerate of modern technologies and communications preferences; the ability to work cohesively as a team and to all follow the same guidelines, policies and communication venues to deliver our entertainment and announcements in consistent formats that do not confuse or frustrate our audience; and finally, the desire to bring the staff and audience alike to the realization that things have changed vastly over the past 38 years since WIXY 1260 AM went off the air and while we respect and hope to emulate WIXY’s format and success, we must be forward thinking.
We have adopted the slogan, “Honor the Past, Respect the Present and Plan for the Future.”
It goes without saying that growing a successful enterprise involves many learning experiences for all involved and we will not always make the wisest choices. However, if we can admit our mistakes and learn from them, we position ourselves to be pragmatic, approachable, respectable and successful. After a great deal of discussion regarding operational policies and procedures targeted to ensuring formulaic consistency, we have decided that although a team member may serve voluntarily, adherence to a common goal and philosophy is essential. Therefore, we are not obligated to maintain a position for those who cannot help us achieve our goals in a defined format while adhering to established policies and procedures.
