Newsletter 7/15/2020: Making New Memories

Greetings WIXY Family,

We hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer months in ways maybe we haven't had to in our lifetimes.  As we all adjust to a new (hopefully not lengthy) normal, we have all had time to perhaps tackle those lingering home projects, clean out cabinets, organize the sock drawer, and maybe even practice your tech skills to learn the many different ways to tune into WIXY1260Online.  As we all sit wondering what will happen next, we continue to hope for the best and try to get on with life as we best know how...keeping contact with loved ones, making new memories and re-living those great ones of the WIXY golden era.

STUDIO SHOWS STATUS
Earlier this year we had to hunker down during the first lock-down from COVID and we all learned some valuable lessons on how to handle this and prepare ourselves should the need, God forbid, ever arise again.  After putting some of our DJs on hiatus while others worked remotely, we eventually welcomed back our full staff of DJ's and made some big adjustments at the studios to accommodate social distancing and sanitary procedures.  And while most things went better than expected, it was not all smooth sailing.  These times have created unprecedented stress in our nation, and we weren't exempt.  As a result, we had to make some very difficult choices on how best to proceed safely and get back to the basics of what makes this station so great and worth investing in.

There are folks who have pointed out that our live shows add personality to our excellent variety of music, and we love interacting with our listeners.  Some have commented that our team is all voluntary and we should be happy to have any volunteers work for us.  In theory, perhaps, but the reality is not every volunteer is built the same.  We have the option, as people who are doing this for sheer enjoyment, to surround ourselves with folks who share our ideals and common goals.  With that said, we have made changes to our staff and internal structure, as well as some adjustments to our programming to make life easier for our DJs and just as fun for our listeners.  Beginning July 20th, our new live show lineup will debut and focus on peak listenership hours to reach as many fans as possible while not spreading our DJs and Staff too thin.

We hope you stick around and continue to fight COVID (and general grumpiness) with us here at WIXY1260Online, where 'The Music is the Star.'  Our regular show schedule is available on our website (www.wixy1260online.com) and show reminders are posted to our Facebook page 15 minutes before they begin.

REMOTE SHOWS / LIVE EVENTS / YOUR HELP NEEDED
As I wrote in my last newsletter, our remote events like our regular appearances at the Club House and IX Auto-Rama were cancelled. While we can't shake hands right now, we kindly ask for your help to spread the word that great 60's & 70's music can still be heard for free 24/7/365.  Also, check out our Merchandise through the link on our website.  Proceeds from sales support our operational costs and keep us as your best option for listening to this great music.  Thanks to everyone who has supported us through the years, we hope for many more to come!

We were fortunate enough to play host to The Outsiders on July 5th for our first ever Virtual Concert.  We hope all who listened enjoyed and we appreciate the positive feedback.  We thank all who made it possible, including our staff and The Outsiders, who joined us to raise $750.00 for The Providence House as part of this event.  We are perfecting our skills in this new Virtual Concert world and hope to have more exciting things in store for you in the future.

As of the writing of this e-mail, we are scheduled to appear at the Annual Mentor Cruise-In on Saturday, August 8.  We encourage interested parties to visit our Happenings Page or The City of Mentor's Info page for all the details (social distancing should be followed and masks should be worn).

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone reading this and to all who have entered the Wild World of WIXY.  Our hearts and thoughts are with you, those effected, and those serving on the front lines during this pandemic.

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay strong!
